Time of the Month makes sustainable period care products from organic tampons to zero-waste mentrual cups
Founder and managing director St John Burke left a career in finance behind to launch Time of the Month (TOTM). "This is a huge market, ripe for disruption and a combination of changing consumer buying habits and an increasingly health and eco conscious generation make for a great opportunity," Burke says.
Given the sensitive nature of periods, it makes total sense that feminine higiene products would be made of clean ingredients. Yet, most manufacturers do not openly share what's in their products. Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton is grown without toxic, synthetic pesticides, chemicals or additives that might disrupt the pH balance in the vagina.
TOTM products contain no plastic packaging, no plastic applicators, no fragrance, rayon, dyes, or chlorine bleach. In fact, the company uses biodegradable cardboard applicators, in place of plastic or plant-based versions "which can take 500 years to decompose."
Other offerings in the range include reusable menstrual cups made from medical-grade TPE and a reusable tampon applicator.
